Past Pooches

Pretty sure this post turned out to be entirely too long.  Oh well.  Its my blog and I do what I want!  =]

I love animals.  Right now, we have a dog that was given to us by Harrison's mom.  She is a poodle and her name is Sophie.  Harrison and I have both gotten so attached to Sophie.  She is the coolest dog ever.  We even taught her tricks.  Well anyway, we were given Sophie with one condition.  She had to be bred. (My mother-in-law breeds the best poodles around.  Check out her website... echocreekpoodles.net) Anyway..We got Sophie in the beginning of November and at the end of last month Sophie went into heat which meant she had to go back to Inola.  So now she is in Inola and I am left here dogless for a while and I really miss her.  So I decided to make a tribute to my past dogs...(my family hasn't always had the best luck picking out good dogs)

Bud-  Bud was the first dog we ever had.  He was given to my parents by the previous owners of my parents house. The dog came with the house.  I don't remember much about him because I was pretty young but he was a cocker spaniel.  I do remember that when he died( I was about 5) my dad went to the other side of the fence to bury him in the land behind our back yard.  My mom, brother, sister and I all stood at the glass door watching him dig the hole.  My brother (6) looked up to my mom and said.."mommy, do you think bud will go to Heaven?"  my mom responded with "well I'm not sure if dogs go to heaven or not but if they do I'm sure he will be there because he was such a good dog" and my sister's (3) response to that was..."nu uh, he's in the dirt. I saw dad put him there"  Haha...that story still cracks me up.

Betty and Babs-  These dogs were sisters.  They were a german shepherd, blue heeler mix.  My brother got to name one (betty) and I got to name the other (Babs, from the tiny toons tv show)  I don't remember much of them either.  I know that we had to get rid of Babs pretty soon after we got her because she attacked Betty and almost killed her.  And then maybe a few years later we had to get rid of Betty because she barked too much and we got too many complaints from the neighbors.

Flash-Flash was one of my favorite dogs.  He was a basset hound.  He used to run around the back yard and trip over his ears.  He also used to sleep on top of his dog house.  Like snoopy.  Seriously.  We lived close to the highway so we had people who would drive by and look to see if he was on top of his house.  ha.  he was a cool dog.  we gave him to my dad's friend who lived out in the country because he barked too much too.

Tyler-After we got rid of Flash, we didn't have a dog for quite a while.  One day our neighbors came over and asked if we wanted a dog because their son was moving into an apartment and couldn't take his dog.  So we took him.  He was 2 years old when we got him and he was a scottish terrier.  he was trained and well behaved but mom wouldn't let us keep him inside because of allergies. So a formerly inside dog now had to stay outside.  His curiosity got the best of him a few months after we got him.  He dug a hole under the fence and escaped to the highway where he was unfortunately hit by a car.  Sad.  He was a good dog though.

Roofus-I can't remember what kind he was.  Maybe a beagle...or something.  Anyway he was real cool too.  He was always extremely hyper and he would take his toys and keep them in our swing in the back.  I don't know how he got them all the stay but that's where he kept them.  He was an excellent hunter and always liked to bring his prey to us to show it off.  Birds, bunnies, mice, opossums etc.  When we were building on to our house we had to take down the fence so we had to tie him up.  Never being tied up before he didn't understand that he couldn't still run full force around the yard. So he tried to take off running one time and I guess broke his esophagus or something because he died a few days later.  This was the most sad I have ever been about a pet dying.  It still makes me sad to think about it.

Next we had Sally-  She is a Blond lab and is still going strong today.  She is now 5 years old besides Bud, the pet that my family has had the longest.  She is a sweet dog and still gets extremely excited when people come to see her.

And Last we have Sophie-my dog.  Not my families, not my brothers, mine.  (and harrison's of course)  Sophie is such a wonderful dog.  It makes me so happy to get home and have her at the door ready to greet me.  She doesn't bark and she is potty trained!  One time, when I was really sick with a stomach virus, I threw up all night and she sat by me the whole time and laid her head in my lap.  And after a while I didn't want to keep walking to the bed so I laid down in the hall and she laid right by me.  I love her so much and can't wait to get her back home!

That's all for now!

New Blog!

Ok, so I tried this blog thing once but I've decided to give it another shot. I don't have the most ingtersting life ever but I am a 21 year old newly wed who is still in college so I figure that I can come up with some things to talk about =].

And to be completley honest, I'm starting this blog because I am bored at work. I've been here for an hour and have 8 hours to go. But I have a few ideas and hopefully this one will work out better then my last attempt.

Anyway...I'll write more later. Hopefully.
